Rox V Project launched!

Rox Music & Arts have been awarded a major grant to encourage more volunteers to join the Organisation. Funding has been approved by Capital Radio's 'V Project' to enable Rox to run a new showcase and 'taster' sessions in December which are then to be launched on the Bognor Campus of the University of Chichester early in the New Year.

The sessions will enable young people from Bognor to have a go at a number of different types of music to see which style most appeals to them and it is hoped that Dance and Vocal sessions may also be available.

Rox marketing manager Robin Parker said, 'we will be looking for a number of volunteers who will primarily be aged between 16 and 24 to help put on these sessions. From day one they will be involved in helping to manage the event which will include location, organising tutors, marketing, registering new students - in fact everything to do with hosting a whole day of interactive trial workshops'.

Volunteers will also be asked to help with the evaluation of the sessions and assist in determining the demand for new workshop provision which the Charity will then gear up for and launch in 2009. A tentative date of December 7th has been put in the diary which will be subject to arranging all the required rooms and tutors etc.

This new initiative falls neatly in to the current plan to develop the proposed Rox Academy at the University of Chichester by September 2009 to coincide with the University's new Foundation Degree in Popular Music Performance which launches at the same time on the Bognor Regis Campus.

A representative of Southern FM's V Project said that Rox had been the only organisation to receive the full award which is a 'real achievement'. So, if you're aged between 16 and 24 and feel like you would like to get involved, keep an eye out on this site and look for the special 'V Project Volunteer' registration link that will be appearing soon!
