Staa Marx Return!
Returning with their very own brand of powerful 70's new wave music at The White Horse in Bognor Regis on Saturday October 11th!
Following a surprise and hugely successful appearance at a private outdoor festival north of Chichester in August Staa Marx will be unleashing their very own brand of powerful 70's new wave music at The White Horse in Bognor Regis on Saturday October 11th.
The band left a trail of 'also-rans' behind them to become outright winners of the Melody Maker National Folk Rock Competition in 1977 which prompted Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull to say that 'like it or not lads, the future of rock and roll is in your hands'! Clearly Ian has been much more successful with his music than he has with his predictions; however, Staa Marx went on to gig extensively throughout Scotland England and Wales which included an appearance in front of 27,000 people at the Reading Festival later that same year.
It's hoped that the gig will coincide with the release of a new compilation CD pack by Cherry Red Records who the band signed to and their single's B-side 'Pleasant Valley Sunday' will feature on the album.
Staa Marx last reunion gig was at the Rox festival in 1999 exactly 20 years after they had disbanded and which the band insisted would be their one and only get together but the support and interest they have received since the Chichester gig has surprised many of the people involved with the band and has led to a growing demand for the Bognor lads to go back in to rehearsals.
Steve Goodheart from Rox was the manager of the band throughout their 3 year non-stop tour which took in hundreds of venues throughout the country which included such infamous London gigs like Dingwalls, The Hope & Anchor and the legendary Marquee Club. He confirmed that the band had indeed gone in to rehearsals stating that the band 'still had a point to make, even after 30 years'!
