Rox receives new workshop funding
The Saturday RoxStars workshops at BRYC, Westloats Lane received important donations from two sources recently. Bognor Town Council handed over a
cheque for over £900 showing their continued support for the work of Rox in the community and there was an equally impressive donation from
a new partner for Rox as Chichester College presented their rather unique 'guitar shaped' cheque for £1,000.
Marketing Manager Terry Payne said "Music is a vibrant department at Chichester College and we are keen to see as many young people as possible getting the chance to be involved with music and finding out if it is for them. Over the years several college staff have been involved in the Rox workshops, so when Rox approached us about sponsoring their Saturday workshops we were pleased to be able to help by becoming a sponsor."
"At Chichester College we have a very active Music department which teaches students specialising in every type of music, from Classical
to Jazz to Pop and Rock. We run courses which range from GCSE to university level, so students can start at the right level for them. Every
year new bands and groups are formed at College and get the chance to perform at College events, in live venues and to record. Last year Level
Penny played at a national education conference in Birmingham. A previous band, Joey Nightmare signed a recording deal just after they left
college. Other students go on to further study of Music or Music Technology at university, music college and conservatoires or into careers
in the industry."
